Excellent alternative to the Evah Pirazzi

I am a professional violist and have been a die-hard Evah Pirazzi user for over a decade. The increasing cost of the Pirazzi strings made me start looking for alternatives. After careful consideration, reading all the reviews and videos on the Warchal Amber strings, I decided to give them a try. After the 'break-in' period (which takes a few more days than the Pirazzi to settle to pitch) I am pleasantly surprised by these strings. I have a large viola - 17.25" - with a vibrating length of 15.5". The Warchal Amber large string length is just fine. I prefer an aluminum A but I wanted to try the steel A, so I ordered the set plus an additional aluminum A. I have the steel on now - I'll try the aluminum A later. So far so good. The first thing I noticed is how easy these strings are to play. Double-stops are much easier and better to play in tune. The C string is active and projects really well. The D and G are equally as good. The steel A sounds really good - not overly harsh as other steel A's I've tried. The packaging of the strings shows the quality that goes into making these strings. Not the flimsy string packs you normally get. Overall, I am fully satisfied with the move to the Warchal Amber Viola strings. High quality without the high price. Only time will tell if these strings are as robust as the Evah Pirazzi's.

Warchal Amber Viola

I love the way these sound on my viola. They have a warm, rich sound, and their lower tension makes for easier fingering. I have the steel A, and it works well on my instrument. They played in very quickly and have settled nicely. I use a Spector mute and the pretty windings have held up well so far. I've only played these for a few weeks, so I can't speak to longevity.
Concord has a very competitive price on these, and they're always great to deal with.

Like Dominants, but with more complexity

These are really nice strings. They are low tension, like Dominants, and share some of the directness of the tone of Dominants, but with more richness. I have the set with the synthetic A. I've tried many strings ... Dominants, Obligatos, Kaplan, Jagar, Corelli, Helicore, Zyex, Spirocore. I like these best.

Warchal with metal A

This is the second set of Ambers I've tried and the first time with metal A. The last set lasted for about 4 months for me with almost daily playing. I like the sound, big, warm, and a little breathy. Takes about a week of playing to break in. My only complaint is they ring too long. Both the metal A and synthetic A were well matched. The metal A is little more piercing and responsive. Take a little more pressure for string crossings compared to all metal Daddario Kaplans I was using before (those are very easy to play).
