Pedi Oblong viola suspension case

An emergency appendectomy last month with restrictions against lifting anything over 10 lbs for 4-6 week’s led me to search for a reasonably priced, sturdy, light-weight case. With great support and quick action from Concord Musical Supplies, I received my Pedi case right away, and love it! It meets all my needs.

Looking for the perfect combo of strength, portability, protection from the elements, practical features and style? This case comes close, weighing in at 5.5 lbs, and equipped with a subway handle, backpack straps that can stow away behind the bottom-placed music pouch, a humidifier tube and an optional spacer to adjust for different-sized violas. With the spacer, the 15.5 inch model fits my 15 3/16 viola exactly. The manufacturer claims that the steel bands and padding that reinforce the case combine to protect the instrument from hard knocks and severe weather. The white stitching against the black really pops. The people at Concord went out of their way to answer my questions, and gave me a nice discount to boot. Packaging was a little spare, featuring a cloth bag and one layer of packing material. Fortunately, the elements that day were mild, and the case arrived in great shape. Only two puzzlers: the humidifier tube came with two bags, one which contains something which looks like cotton, the other some crystals. No directions were given, so no clue as to how to use it. Until I find out, I'm keeping my viola humidified with the excellent Stretto system. Thanks, Concord and Pedi!
