Always reliable

The Pirastro No.1 is a great sounding string that is consistent and reliable every time I put it on my instrument. Always recommend it to my students and colleagues.

Squeaks like mad

This string is supposed to not squeak, but it squeaks all the time. More than the regular steel E-string. It's more expensive and doesn't have the sweet, bright tone of a steel E-string. No point in buying. I'd go with the 27 gauge Goldbrokat. It's very cheap, tone has tremendous body and volume, and it squeaks fewer times than this Pirastro string.
